Great Doctor's Visit

Quick update. Just got back from the doctor's office and we have 1 24mm follicle (on CD13)!! Ovidrel shot tonight and IUI scheduled for Thursday morning.

Any tips for giving yourself a shot? I'm a bit nervous to do it.

UPDATE: The deed is done. Thanks for all your tips, tricks and well wishes. You were right it wasn't bad at all.

Yay for your follie! Good luck with the shot, my partner just followed the instructions and it worked well/easy. It was harder on her than on me. She was scared to hurt me, but I barely felt it. Never had to give one to myself ....

p.s. love your new background on your blog!

YAY!!!! Too bad you don't have any nurses in your family to get advice from in regards to giving a needle :(

YAY! I don't think I've ever had a 24mm follie. Best of luck!

When I give myself the shot I swab the area (belly) with alcohol. When dry I just stick it in quickly but go all the way in. Also go in straight. Not at an angle. Slowly push in the liquid. When it is all in count to 5 before removing the needle. It gives the liquid time to absorb in and it doesn't come out with the needle when you pull it out. That's my advise.

what a beautifully sized follicle you have! may it release a plump egg, ripe for fertilization! :)

don't think too much about the shot, just plunge it in!

Stole some great ideas from others that made my first day of injectables really quite fine...

Use an ice cube to numb the area first (thanks to Mel and Stirrup Queens)

Have everything organized ahead of time so that you aren't stressed about the logistics (also from Mel)

Give yourself a treat at nearly the same time as the shot (thanks Next In Line)

Listen to all the people who tell you it won't be that bad. They're right.

Good job on the follicle growth! A great omen for you.

Love the new background. Giving myself the first shot was really scary but once I did it, I felt really silly for making such a big deal of it. Glad it all went well. My fingers are crossed so tightly for you.
