Still Here

We have been bad bloggers this month. We have been very busy getting ready for the multiple visitors we are expecting over the next 3 months.

We eliminated 25% of our "junk" to make more room for Bit. We added shelves in our garage to move some of our left over "junk" out into the garage. We painted Bit's room a neutral color (Harvest Wheat)since we aren't finding out if Bit's a boy or a girl. We got new carpet in all the bedroom's. Melissa ordered some decals to put in Bit's room. We even have purchased some clothes for Bit. So as you can see we have been B-U-S-Y.

Honestly, we really don't know what we should have at this point in the pregnancy. We are going to get help from some friends who have been there done that to help us figure out what to buy. We will most likely start buying baby furniture in October/November.

As for Melissa, she is doing great. She does suffer the ocasional headache and some leg cramps but overall this is a great time for us both.

I am doing well and love looking at Melissa's growing belly. I feel like I am glowing when I get to feel her belly. I am over protective of Melissa and Bit but that's just me. We plan on going to Melissa's family for Christmas in Calgary (7 weeks before due date). Our Doctor said unless we have any complications it should be okay. However, my sister's Doctor won't let her go over an hour from her house when she has 8 weeks left. It makes me a little nervous. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Wow, I am all over this place with this entry!

Well, it's not like you're planning on spending Christmas on a remote desert island. There ARE doctors in Calgary in the unlikely even that Bit decides to make an early debut. I don't think you guys have anything to worry about.
It sounds like you've been very busy with organization. I hope you can post pictures of the nursery someday, I think it's interesting to see how people handle the gender neutral decor. I hope you have some time to relax during all of the organizing. Have a great time with your guests!

personally i think its never too soon to start buying baby items. what dp and i did was start out buying everything but big furniture. so we waited on the crib, changing table, etc..until after the 20 week mark. we started preparing for baby early and STILL have so much to do. as far as traveling like the above comment i do agree there are doctors in calgary. our doctor told us that riding in the car *traveling* was fine, but plane *traveling* No. Something about the air pressure makes women go into labor. 16 weeks already..wow!

Sounds like you guys have been very busy!!! One thing I've read about buying furniture is to buy it and assemble it early enough so that it can air out (issue with formaldehyde). Same thing with adding new carpet (which you've done in plenty of time).
We have bought our crib (past 20 weeks) but otherwise we're leaving the rest in hopes that we have a shower and people help out. Getting ready does seem overwhelming!

Just remember that you were 4-6 weeks early. I had just quit my job, wanted to get everything ready for your entry into the world. You didn't let that happen!! You were about 5 weeks early. So, needless to say, be prepared for anything to happen.
If Bit is like you, it already has a mind of its own!! Grandma Carol

My partner is a physician and both she and my midwife said that traveling up until about 30 days before your due date is just fine, even by plane. You can also assess where your body is at that time, before you make the trip, and be sure to bring with you all your medical records (and legal stuff as well!) in the event that Bit comes early. If you are flying, you might consider getting a doctor's affirmation of your health and ability to fly at the check up just prior to leaving. Good luck!

Great to hear that all is well! Enjoy all that the second trimester has to bring...soon, you'll feel the movement. :)

My OB just told me that he doesn't have any travel restrictions for me...he told me I can travel on my due date if I want! (I won't be, trust me). I guess it just depends on the practitioner. You should be fine.

my OB restricts travel only in the last 4 weeks of pregnancy.

re: furniture, i was surprised when we purchased ours that they estimated delivery could take as long as 12-14 weeks. it ended up coming in earlier, but i had no idea that was even a possiblity when we purchased. just wanted to give you the heads up so you leave yourself plenty of time. good luck!

I'm so happy to hear of another blogger couple who are NOT going to find out the sex! Yay! I thought we were the only ones and people think we are crazy.

It's great to get things done ahead of time when you have the energy. Full speed ahead!

We didn't start nursery prep or accumulation of baby stuff until after 20 weeks. That was wehn we finally started to believe it was going to happen. OWhen we ordered our furniture they estimated 13weeks until delivery. Which would have put delivery a week before my due date. It arrived in about 8 weeks, but still, very glad we ordered it early!

As for travel, many airlines have restrictions about pregnant women flying. So if your trip is by air I'd check with your airline. You will certianly want to get a note from your doc that you are ok to fly. No concerns about the safety of the baby and travel, Calgary has the emergency care you'd need if it came to that.

Sounds like you have been busy. I wondered where you guys were. I can't believe Melissa is 16 weeks already. Time flies by so quickly. Enjoy furniture shopping. I dont know if you are on facebook but I became a fan of BRU and today the posted 10-15% off coupons on a variety of things like strollers, cribs, bedding, etc. Try this link
