Flu shot?

Is anyone getting a flu shot? I normally get one every year but I'm a little nervous about getting one while TTC. I feel like I'm already putting my body through so much with the TTC stress, Clomid, etc. that I think a flu shot would do more harm then good.

I also worry that getting the flu shot right before insemination or right after might have negative effects on implantation and the first stages of the first trimester (if I do in fact get pregnant this cycle).

Am I being hyper-sensitive?

I'd probably avoid it if I were you, unless you are very susceptible to the effects of flu - do you have asthma?

In the UK, they don't give the flu jab during the first 3 months of pregnancy unless the risk of flu complications is quite high.

I agree with vee. Unless you are worried about your own health and feel it is necessary, I wouldn't have it done.

I don't think you're being hyper-sensitive. I'm not the one TTC but have sometimes felt a little "off" after having the flu shot in the past. J and I were discussing the pros/cons this a.m. and then saw the Today Show where a doc recommended that all pregnant women should have the flu shot. I don't know what we'll do. Probably consult our ObGyn.

My partner and I were just debating this last month. She works in a clinic so usually does get the flu shot but was uncomfortable about doing it while she might be pregnant. She ended up waiting until her period and getting the flu shot before we inseminated again. The CDC recommends getting it if you're going to be pregnant in flu season, but we couldn't find any studies showing whether it is OK to get it in the first trimester.
