It's official we're done for this cycle. Just got the call from the doctor's office confirming that I didn't ovulate. I'm going in on Friday to discuss next steps. I'm sure one of which is going to be putting me on a higher dose of Clomid which I'm oh so excited about. Good news is I get a few extra drinking days out of this cycle and I'll definitely need it for the baby shower I'm going to on Saturday ;)
We've also decided to switch donors. Since we've tried our current one for three cycles (well technically two as this one doesn't count) we thought we'd look to see if anyone else catches our fancy. Plus, with the monitoring we'll only be doing one IUI instead of two which means we only have to buy half of the vials that we purchased last time which will be nice on the bank account right before the holidays. My only fear is that we'll have to sit next month out because of Christmas. Guess we'll find out more on Friday.
Thanks for all of Amy's birthday wishes. If she didn't have so much fun out last night with her friends I'm sure she would thank you herself :)

Oh no! That truly takes the award for Most Sucky Thing! I'm so sorry.
Just out of interest, were you advised to switch donors, or do you just fancy mixing it up a bit? We're on try #5 with this one and while half of me wants to shop around, the other half feels oddly committed to this one - kind of like waiting for a bus - I've waited here for so long now that I KNOW if I leave, it'll come round the corner.
Hi Vee - I hear ya on the bus analogy. We might end up keeping our donor if we don't see anyone new we like. I've seen people switch it up after a few cycles of no success just to change one of the variables to see if it makes a difference. I don't think there is a hard and fast rule.
Sorry you were right... I'm glad your doc is willing to work on a new protocol!
Sorry guys--what a disappointment. I vote for a donor switch, if that's what feels right to you. Hopefully the new protocol is what your body needs--that a a very very extra-speciallly merry holiday. (Unless of course, you don't celebrate x-mas in which case the timing is not at all significant!) :)
I'm sorry girls.
Delurking to say Hello. I've been there, actually I'm still there. Have you talked to your doctor about Femara? I've had good results with it. It works differently than Clomid. Rather than producing several follicles it creats one big plump one. Mine are always between 18-20mm or more. I use the trigger shot to ovulate and have been pleased with that approach. It also doesnt have all the nasty side effects like clomid (read: you actually feel happy and normal!) and it's less likely to cause cysts. Anyway, sorry to bust in like that. I'm sorry about your current disappointment. I wish you both all the best.
I'm sorry that this month isn't your month. Maybe switching donors will bring everything together!
Good luck!
Aw man. That so sucks. i am hoping that you are one of those wonderfully lucky couples that goes the assisted route and gets knocked up on the first round!
As for having to miss this cycle, unless you're planning to do some major traveling, you should be ok. Our RE works every day (on call) except right on Christmas day, so my fingers will be crossed for perfect timing...
Blasted! #$%^&
But congrats on the extra drinking days, and on deciding to choose a new donor. I feel like, when one is not stressed out, choosing a new donor is like the fun of internet dating without all that pesky dating.
Good luck with your boy shopping and that baby shower. Just think of it as... when I finally get pregnant will I want that style onsie?
Damn. Sorry this wasn't it. But I'm happy that you're stirring things up and trying new things.
sorry gals :( what a bummer...
i was also curious about the donor thing! funny vee asked that! :) i think it's good to change it up. can't be a bad thing...
